Biggin's NCAA Football Playoff Layout 2008

    OK, heres my idea

    The layout:

Top 16 team in the BCS

    #16 v. #17 in a play in game

Same format as the basketball tourney, two sides of 8

#1 BCS team gets the overall 1 seed, while the #2 gets the 1 on the other side

have the games named as bowl games.

Here's how it would ook this year, going by the BCS standings of this week:

    1. Alabama 1
    2. Oklahoma 1
    3. Texas 2
    4. Florida 2
    5. USC 3
    6. Utah 3
    7. Texas Tech 4
    8. Penn State 4
    9. Boise State 5
    10, Ohio State 5
    11. TCU 6
    12. Ball State 6
    13. Cincinnati 7
    14. Oklahoma State 7
    15. Georgia Tech 8
    16. Georgia 8
    17. Boston College

    16. vs 17.
    Georgia v. BC

    1. Alabama---------------1. Oklahoma
    2. Florida---------------2. Texas
    3. Utah------------------3. USC
    4. Penn State------------4. Texas Tech
    5. Ohio State------------5. Boise State
    6. Ball State------------6. TCU
    7. Ok State--------------7.Cincy
    8. Play in winner--------8. Georgia Tech

    1. Bama v. 8. play in winner-----1. OU v 8.GT
    (Gator)--------------------------(Cotton)
    2. Florida v. 7. Ok State--------2. UT v. 7. Cincy
    (Peach)--------------------------(Capital One)
    3. Utah v. 6. Ball State---------3. USC v. 6. TCU
    (Holiday)------------------------(Outback)
    4. Penn State v. 5. Ohio State---4. TT v. 5. Boise
    (Insight)------------------------(Music City)

    1. Bama v. 4. Ohio State---------1. OU v. 4. TT
    (Sugar)--------------------------(Fiesta)
    2. Florida v. 3. Utah------------2. UT v. 3. USC
    (Orange)-------------------------(Rose)

    1. Bama v. 2. UF-----------------1. OU v. 2. UT
    Semi #1--------------------------Semi #2

    1. Bama v. 1. OU
    BCS Title Game

(I just used top seeds all the way, easiest way)

(( And im not sure about the earlier bowls, those seem to be the most prestigious i could think of))

They should take the 11 conference champions and 5 wild card teams and have a sixteen team playoff. Sure some games would be sorry, but at least you do get something for winning your conference.

Having all eleven conference champions is a joke. Troy or whoever comes out of the SunBelt couldnt compete. Neither could the MAC.
    Reeking of awesomeness!

Why not just got like the NCAA BBall tourny? 64 teams.. Seriously, it's a lot more football.. there would be some surprise teams get in, and I know it's not logical at all.. but that would be some exciting football teams.. undefeated and 1 loss teams would over-look some of the worst teams..

well 64 is a bit much.. 32 maybe... and you have to have a 7 win season..

You don't need a play in game in football. There is no perfect system. None of the rest are perfect, they just have playoffs. A lot of times, the best team over the season doesn't win the championship. Take New England last year. Too much hype for a championship. It's all about $$$.

you just made the point that prevents the playoff system. The top brass at each school know that each year they will make the $$$ and with just one loss or two they can play for a nationial championship in just one game or play in another bcs game and still have their glory, money and excuses.

Re: Biggin's NCAA Football Playoff Layout 2008

Hows this : Keep the bowls the same since the NCAA is worried about losing money and have this using the current BCS standings:

Sugar Bowl : 1 Ala vs. 8 Penn St
Orange Bowl : 2 Oklahoma vs. 7 Texas Tech
Rose Bowl : 3 Texas vs. 6 Utah
    Fiesta : 4 Florida vs. 5 USC

Winner of Sugar plays winner of Rose (Big Money Sponsor Bowl)
Winner of Orange plays winner of Fiesta (Big Money Sponsor Bowl)

Then the last 2 standing play for the NC.
You could adjust the bowls however. Forget the conference tie in with certain bowls. The top 8 begin the playoffs by playing in the 4 BCS Bowls. More money for the conferences. Just a thought.
